Two interestingly unconnected things in the news in the last 2 days:
In todays news, in all the newspapers, there are reports of the 'execution-styled killing of prisons officer Ian Seegobin'. There are some interesting things to consider - a month ago, according to the Trinidad Guardian, the victim had received death threats. The Trinidad Express reports 4 gunshot wounds. Newsday reports that the late Mr. Seegobin was shot 6 times. They all agree that the victim is dead; they all agree that sources say that this was a hit ordered from behind Golden Grove Prison's walls.
What was not mentioned in these articles is that just one day ago, there was a guard held for being in possession with a quantity of marijuana, a cell phone, several cell phone chargers, packets of cigarettes, and a number of razor blades.
Perhaps the incidents were unrelated, but it isn't very difficult to come to a theory that there is increased awareness at the Prisons about corruption resulting in one prison officer being caught red-handed. So, if there is increased awareness and prison officers are being executed (not long ago another was killed), isn't it possible that these incidents are connected? Isn't it possible that someone could have blown the whistle and made a few enemies as well?
It just strikes me as odd.
