Trinidadians and Queueing...what?

If you have never bought doubles on the side of the road, you ought not to read this entry (or this website for that matter). As simple as this may sound, I have always had a problem with Trinidadians when it comes to lining up.
Unless people are specifically told to queue, hardly anyone does it. I refer to my many experiences buying doubles. I start off by positioning myself behind what some may call a line. Then out of nowhere, a couple of persons will walk right up to the front, totally disregarding the line already formed and order their stuff. Its a very small thing, but this really pisses me off.

Have you ever been on Curepe Taxi stand around 5pm? You will see a line of people and no cars. Then slowly one car will pull up and then the hounds descend on the poor car. I actually saw a man pull a woman out of the car as she was stepping in and then he jumped in.

You know what really shocked me? I was in Canada one time and I attended what we Trinis call a "fete". As expected I had to "take a leak" at some point in the night. To my surprise I saw a line leading to the male bathroom. Now take a minute and let this soak in.....

1. I am in a fete
2. Most people are drunk
3. Most people are Trinis
3. There was a line...really? Yes really.

Why is it that when Trinidadians are abroad, they can display human-like behaviour, but in our own country all hell breaks loose? Maybe it's just me.

I'll refer to one more example before I close off this entry (Gods knows I can keep giving examples forever). I was standing outside Pearson airport about 1 metre away from an exit door and my 2 friends pulled out a cigarette each. Then one of them gesterued us to move a little more distance away from the exit door because as you may know, its illegal to smoke within a certain distance to an exit door. Would this have happened in Trinidad by the same person? Only in my dreams.

Trinidadians and queing? what is that?
