According to the Trinidad Express, Friday, November 26th, 2009 is a de facto holiday in Trinidad and Tobago due to CHOGM - for whatever reason. Apparently the powers-that-be think that another holiday for the dinosaurs discussing the tar pits is necessary for all of Trinidad and Tobago despite CHOGM only affecting a small part of Trinidad and Tobago. This demonstrates the unspoken bias that Port of Spain is a nation unto itself; South and East of the lighthouse are another nation.
There's really no reason for everything to shut down for an entire day. Of course, it could simply be that the powers-that-be are dismissing the citizens of the nation more openly now.
